A Hypsometric map depicts land configuration, usually with contour lines, such as this map. It shows the configuration and height of the land surface, usually by means of contours.
The Hypsometric map is a surface map with relief shown, and it is three dimensional information communicated. The third dimension, can be any other variable that describes a phenomena or process superimposed on the surface. The third dimension can be represented by color, shaping, contour lines and raised relief.
